How to Identify a Supported Computer
How to find identifying information for a UW-owned, TS-supported computer.
The Technical Support team can identify a computer by its name or its serial number (Apple) or service tag (Dell).
Hardware (Physical) Identification
Supported computers usually have a label saying they are supported by ITS Technical Support (formerly LSS TechZone). That label includes the name of the computer on the third line (outlined in the images below).
The location of the label varies by device:
- For all laptops, it is generally on the bottom of the device.
- For Dell desktops, it is usually on the top or side near the power button.
- For Apple desktops (iMacs and Mac minis), it is usually on the back of device.
