Windows protected your PC message
When trying to install an application, you get the following message "Windows has protected your PC - Microsoft Defender SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk."
**Most of the time you can choose More info and then Run anyway.**
Occasionally, the Run anyway option is not available. In those cases, do the following:
- Right click the installer > choose Properties.
- At the bottom of the General tab next to Security, check the box for Unblock
- Choose Apply and then OK.
- You should now be able to run the installer (you may still have to run as admin or provide admin creds).
