In this Doc

Exception(s) on an Advisement Report

Programs may request an exception be added to a student's Advisement Report. To view an exception on a report:

  1. View the student's Advisement Report
  2. Scroll to the section where the exception was to be added.

The three types of exceptions appear on an Advisement Report in different ways.

Course Substitution

This is the most common used exception, especially if a program approves a student's request to apply transfer credit to satisfy degree requirements.

  • The course substituted in the section of the Advisement Report is noted by a number in the "notes" column (see red arrow in image).

Requirement Change

This exception may be used to account for a change in degree requirements.

  • The section changed will be denoted with a hyperlinked note stating, "Required units or courses have been changed."

Requirement Waiver

This exception is usually reserved for programs using internal pathways so that a student only views the pathway requirements applicable to them. Programs should not request requirements to be waived on an Advisement Report to account for transfer credit.

  • The section waived will be hidden and a status of "waived" appears. The note attached to the exception is also visible on the report.
