How to exchange a parking permit
Base lot, Flex, park and ride / remote lot, UW accessible, and carpool permit exchanges
- Complete an application for the new parking permit.
To exchange a current (active) UW parking permit / pass for a base lot, Flex, park and ride / remote lot permit, follow the application process for your university affiliation:

To exchange a current permit / pass for a carpool permit, follow this process:
- Wait for a new parking assignment. You will be notified by Transportation Services if you are offered a new permit.
- While waiting for a new permit, you are welcome to continue using your current permit / pass.
- You may also choose to cancel your current product and make alternate commuting arrangements while waiting for a new permit.
- Complete the exchange.

- If you kept your current permit while waiting for a new assignment, you must exchange products in person at a Transportation Services customer service location.
- If you already canceled your old product, you may purchase your new permit online following the instructions in your offer letter. Also refer to the document How to buy parking permits and bus passes in eBusiness.
An administrative fee will be charged for exchanging your active permit for a base lot, Flex, carpool, or UW Accessible permit if the products are valid within the same parking year. There is no exchange fee to exchange your current product for a park and ride / remote lot permit
Exchange process for all other permit / pass types
To exchange an active permit for a permit that is valid for short-term or off-peak parking, such as an afternoon, night, semester, monthly, moped, motorcycle, bus pass, Lot 76 Quick Pass, etc.:
- Purchase your new permit or pass online or in person, depending on the product.
- Refer to the document How to buy parking permits and bus passes in eBusiness.
- Please note that if a permit option is not displayed in the eBusiness purchasing portal, it may only be available for in-person purchases, or may not be available. Contact customer service for more information.
- Cancel the current/active permit or pass.

There is no fee to exchange your current product for a short-term or off-peak parking permit or pass.
