How to use the Emergency Ride Home program

This offers cab vouchers for employees who don't drive alone to campus and need a ride home due to a qualifying emergency. This document explains how to request a Lyft code or no-cost ride with Union Cab in case an emergency ride home from campus is needed.

Request a Lyft ride code

Note: These instructions require a Lyft account. Go to Lyft account creation instructions.

  1. Complete a Lyft Emergency Ride Home Registration Form on the Transportation Services website.

  2. A ride code will be emailed to the address provided on the registration form.

  3. Enter the ride code when scheduling an emergency ride home with Lyft. Do not pay for the ride with a credit card: you will not be reimbursed. Any driver gratuity is the rider's responsibility.

Each Lyft ride code is only good for three uses within six months. After three uses, you must complete the registration form again to receive a new code.

If the ride code does not work, it may have expired. Please submit the form again to get a new code.

Use a pre-printed Emergency Ride Home voucher for a Union Cab

  1. Print an Emergency Ride Home Voucher from the Transportation Services website.

  2. Request a Union Cab at (608) 242-2000, online, or with the Union Cab mobile app.

  3. Complete the voucher form before the cab arrives.

  4. Present the completed voucher to the cab driver at the time of the ride. Do not pay for the ride: you will not be reimbursed. Any driver gratuity is the rider's responsibility.
