CSIS Directory - Add Individual
This document explains how to add a new individual to the CSIS 2 directory. It walks through each step of the process, including entering basic information, reviewing existing records, updating contact details, and completing instructor‑specific fields. It also covers how to update financial information and marketing categories when needed. This guide is designed for staff who maintain learner, instructor, or partner records in CSIS.
Step One: Open Individuals Directory
- Log in to CSIS 2.From the top menu, select Directory.
- Choose Individuals from the drop down menu.

Step Two: start adding a new individual
- On the right side of the page, click the blue button labeled Add Individual.

Step Three: Enter basic information
- Only enter the following fields
- First name
- Last Name

If the individual is not a UW employee or already in CSIS, continue to Step Four.

If the person is a UW employee

Their UW–Madison record will appear automatically

Select the Add button that displays under their wisc.edu email address.

This adds the individual to the CSIS directory.

If the person is already in CSIS

Their existing record will appear.

Select their name to review their profile and confirm whether it is the correct person.

Step Four: If the individual is new
- Select the blue Create button.
- Once the individual is created, their profile page will appear.
- From there you can click on the blue "Add" or "create" buttons to update the individual's contact information.

Step Five: New Instructor information (if not an instructor, skip to Step Six: Marketing)

Under biographies
- click the blue edit button for Web Biography
- Enter bio information.
- Click Save
- click the blue edit button for Web Biography

Under Financials
- click the blue edit button to update Legal name if different than preferred name.
- Enter credentials
- Select instructor appointment type
- Click Save

Step Six: Marketing

Under Categories
- Click the blue edit button
- Using the department drop down, select the department of the categories or program areas you would like to select

- Check the box of the marketing lists you would like the individual added to. You can select more than one.

- Click save

Under Preferences
- Click the blue edit button
- Check the box of the type of marketing the individual will receive (email or mail)
- You can check more than one
- Click save
