We invite researchers from the School of Human Ecology to join us for two mini ("spark") sessions on grant budget development.
Spark Session 1: Grant Budgeting: Reminders and Updates
Presented by members of the SOHE CORE Support Team
This session will cover the fundamentals of grant budgeting and provide crucial updates on recent policy changes.

Brief Overview of Budgeting: Summary of budget basics for a grant (direct costs, indirect costs, avoiding pitfalls)

Tuition Remission Policy Updates: Share new policy regarding tuition remission, including key changes and impacts to current and future grants.

Vendor and Contractor Payments: Best practices for planning and managing payments to external partners including vendors, service providers, and consultants.
Spark Session 2: Subaward Success
Presented by Jennifer Kuhr, Subaward Manager, Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP)
Jennifer will discuss critical aspects of managing subawards on your research projects.
Topics include:

Subaward Requirements: Review of the items needed from subawards when developing a proposal.

Subaward Setup: Overview of the steps to set up a new subaward once a grant award is made, including roles and responsibilities of the PI, Department contact, and subawardee.

Timely Invoice Payment: Tips for ensuring timely processing and payment of subaward invoices.
Who should attend?
Faculty and research staff in the School of Human Ecology who develop budgets for grants or other extramural funding.
