Genetics VPN guide

Information and instructions related to the Genetics VPN service.

Clients for the VPN can be downloaded here: 

 

  1. First, ensure Globalprotect is installed: https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=90370
  2. From there, click on the GlobalProtect client icon and click the little menu at top right.  Here’s what that looks like on PC:

  1. Go to Settings from that menu.  Under the General tab, click the ‘Add’ button:

  1. For Portal Address, type in genetics.vpn.wisc.edu and click save:

  1. If  you have multiple portals, when you start up GlobalProtect you’ll see a dropdown to select the one you want to connect to – pick genetics.vpn.wisc.edu:

  1. Log in with your NetID and password.  I’ve given VPN access to anyone at Genetics.  If for some reason you don’t have access, please let me know and I can manually add your NetID to the access list
