What is Webex Events (Formerly Socio)

• Webex Events is an All-in-One event management platform that enables organizers to create and manage in-person, virtual, and hybrid events. It offers features such as customizable event apps, live streaming, attendee engagement tools, and analytics.

Planning to Use Webex Events for your Event Registration?

Can be used for the following:

• Event registration purposes, including collecting attendee information and managing event logistics.

• Training for an audience other than UW employees or contractors with UW credentials who are required to complete mandatory employee training (i.e. volunteers, students who are not employees, etc.)

• Large meetings, events conferences, workshops and symposiums
  • Examples:
    • Women and Leadership Symposium
    • Administrative Professionals Conference
    • Global Day: Wisconsin & the World

Restrictions

• Cannot be used as a registration platform in lieu of using Workday. 

• Cannot be used for event registrations that involve payment processing. Alternative platforms that supports PCI compliant payment transactions must be used.
  • You must make your event free within the Webex Events Platform and use the alternative payment processing platforms if you plan to charge for your event.

• Learning intended to accomplish at least one of the following:
  • Develop skills or knowledge
  • Improve job competency/performance
  • Meet specific certification or compliance requirements
