Canvas - Known Issue - Test Student Data Does Not Reset in New Quizzes [UW-Madison]

If you use test student view while testing a quiz in New Quizzes, the test student's data will remain in the course, even when you exit test student mode.

When using a test student to test Canvas New Quizzes, quiz attempts are saved and included in reports and other data while you are testing the quiz. However, when you reset the test student, the attempts are not deleted from New Quizzes.

As well as cluttering up the results, this means that the test student's attempts continue to affect the overall data for the quiz, such as item analysis statistics and outcomes. This is inconsistent with test student behavior in other parts of Canvas.

    Affects

Instructors and staff in Canvas courses that use New Quizzes

    Status

Instructure is aware of the issue, but there is no fix on the Canvas product roadmap

    Workaround

When the test student is reset, delete their attempts from New Quizzes. This will remove their attempts, prevent test attempts affecting the overall data, and prevent unexpected results caused by test student data.
