L&S Academic Planning Council

The Academic Planning Council is the main governance committee for the College of Letters & Science. It is composed of members elected by the L&S faculty, academic staff, and university staff. The council is instrumental in advising the Dean about a wide range of topics in the College. These areas include program review, creation of new programs, institutes, or centers, assessment of student learning, strategic planning and other items. Meetings:

The College of Letters & Science Academic Planning Council (L&S APC) meets the first and third Tuesday of the month during Fall and Spring terms. The council does not meet over the summer.

Deadlines:

Materials should be submitted three weeks in advance of a meeting, to allow for consultation with Academic Associate Deans and L&S Curriculum Committee. In some cases, additional time is needed and the presentation to the L&S APC is delayed.

Council members:

Faculty members are elected from each of the major divisions in the College. For staff, there is one elected university staff member, one academic staff member representing a student-facing and/or instructional perspective and one academic research staff member. The Dean appoints two ex-officio members which include the Chair of the L&S Curriculum Committee and the Co-Chair of the L&S Inclusive Excellence Committee.
