Kaltura - Screen Recording with audio and web cam
This KB will show how to access, setup, and use Kaltura inside of Canvas to record your screen, share it and download the video.
- Log into Canvas:
- Select "Account" then select "Kaltura My Media"
- Within "My Media" under Add New select "Kaltura Capture"
- Inside of Kaltura Capture at the bottom select the installer for Windows or Mac
- After clicking the download install the program. Should not need administrative access.
- Once you download and install the tool refresh the page.
- This will bring you back to the main page shown in step 3. Select Kaltura Capture from the "Add New" selector.
- This should now launch the app in Windows or MacOS.
- Hit "New Recording" and the overlay will appear:
- Here you can choose which screen to record if you have multiple connected. As well as a camera and the audio source. To change the screen, camera, or audio source hit the down arrow below the icon and select your preferred option.
- You can click on the camera and audio icons to disable them for the recording.
- Hit the red button to start recording.
- It will have a 3 second count down and then will start recording.
- To end the recording hit the gray square at the bottom.
- You also have the option to pause the recording then start again.
- Once it's finished you'll have the option to give the recording a Title, description, and add tags.
- Once you are happy with your information hit Save&Upload to upload the video to your "My Media" in canvas, where then you can share or download the video.
- When you hit Save&Upload you will get a popup asking you to agree to use the uploading tool. Hit yes on this.
- Go back to My Media by clicking on your account and selecting Kaltura My Media.

- You should see the video you just uploaded. Note: depending on the length of the recording it could take a few minutes for it to show up.
- From here select the pencil icon on the right side to edit the video so you can download it
- Select the downloads tab under the video. Then select the quality of the video you want available for download and hit save (Note you can select multiple format quality to download):
- Then up top hit the "Back to My Media" button
- Once back on the video hit the download tab at the bottom and hit the download icon next to the quality you would like:
- This will download the video in a .MP4 format.

- From here you can attach it to an email and share it or add it to whatever service is needed.
