Department Email Service Accounts in Slate
Setting up an email service account in Slate
If you wish to send emails out of Slate from a department email service account, you will first need to go through an authentication process.
To get this process started please send an email to admissionstaff@grad.wisc.edu with the following information:
- The email address(es) you wish to authenticate (e.g., admissions@yourdepartment.wisc.edu)
- How you would want your address name to be displayed to the recipient (e.g., "Chemistry Admissions" instead of chemadmiss@chem.wisc.edu)
Once we receive your request, we will send you further directions.
Please note: we will not authenticate personal email addresses or any email unaffiliated with the university to be used in Slate.
Using an email service account in Slate
When preparing to send an email in Slate, the email editor will never default to your service email account. It is important to note that your email service account will always need to be manually set as the sender in an email.
Setting service account as the sender for an individual email to an applicant
- Select the applicant you wish to email and open up the email editor (see the Send an Email to a Single Applicant in Slate KB Document).
- Select the Sender drop down, near the top of the email editor, to find the service accounts you have associated with your account, as shown in the screenshot below.
Setting service account as the sender for a bulk email via Deliver
Please note that additional permissions will be needed to use Deliver to send a bulk email in Slate.
- Set up your email in Deliver
- In the email editor, you will need to manually type in the Sender address located near the top of email editor, as shown in the screenshot below. (By default it will be set up to send from admissions@grad.wisc.edu.)
