Requesting a Billing Customer ID (BCID)

In order to request a storage account on ResearchDrive or Research Object Storage (S3), you must include a Billing Customer ID (BCID) when submitting the account application.  If you do not have a BCID, you will need to request one prior to submitting the storage account application.

How to request a Billing Customer ID (BCID)

  1. Work with your department's financial representative to get your Workday Funding String (FDM).
  2. Email the Workday Funding String (FDM) to billing@doit.wisc.edu
  3. Include a note in the email that you are requesting "Data Storage Services".
Note:   If you qualify for a no-cost storage subsidy, you are still required to provide a BCID when applying for a storage account. However, as long as your usage remains within your account’s no-cost quota, you will not be billed.
