Using CALS IT Jump Servers
How to access CALS IT Jump Servers
A jump server is a secure, dedicated computer that acts as a gateway to manage access to other, more sensitive systems on a network. CALS IT provides a jump server for each tier in our Active Directory setup (Tier 0, 1, and 2). The requisite Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for administering Active Directory are already installed on these systems, as well as the CALS ADTools Powershell Module.
- RDP to the jump servers is allowed from UW-Madison VPN connections and wired CALS subnets, with the exception of the Tier 0 jump server, which required specific static VPN or wired IPs.
- Internet access is disabled on the jump servers. This is to prevent accidental downloading of malware.
Connection Addresses:
- jump-t2.it.cals.wisc.edu - Tier 2 Jump Server, use T2 account credentials
- jump-t1.it.cals.wisc.edu - Tier 1 Jump Server, use T1 account credentials
- jump-t0.it.cals.wisc.edu - Tier 0 Jump Server, use T0 and/or OU account credentials.
