University Committee Meeting Minutes 2025-11-17

Minutes for November 17, 2025

UC members present: Bernard-Donals, Chui, de Leon, Jones, Kendall, Mathieu

Others present: Michelle Felber, Lesley Fisher, Genevieve Lambert, Julie Scharm

Chair Jones called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm.

The minutes from the November 10, 2025, meeting were approved as distributed.

There are Provost search and screen listening sessions taking place on Tuesday, November 18. The Board of Regents will take up the Act 15 policies on Wednesday, November 19.

Michelle Felber and Jack O’Meara, PROFS, shared the PROFS annual report that will be presented at the December Senate meeting. It goes through June 30, 2025. The state Senate will take up the free speech bill. PROFS has registered against it. They are planning a spring town hall perhaps with gubernatorial candidates.

The Faculty Senate agenda was approved to be sent out early.

The Faculty Town Hall on Act 15 had about 90 participants. One hour seemed to be the right amount of time, and the UC was pleased with how it went. They will look at doing some more town halls in the spring.

The University Committee discussed the new college. They have concerns about equity and retention in academic programs and how it will function as a hub.

Bob Mathieu and Mike Bernard-Donals volunteered to look at business vs calendar days in FPP and bring recommendations back to the University Committee.

Jones adjourned the meeting at 2:38 pm.
