Important Reminder: Do Not Store Data Locally
Reminding users not to store data locally on the computer.
Data saved on your computer’s local drive (Mac or PC)—such as C: drive, Desktop, Documents, or similar folders—is not backed up and can be lost due to hardware failure, theft, or damage. Recovering data from a failed hard drive is very expensive and often unsuccessful.
Use SMPH-approved storage options such as shared drives, research drives, or UW–Madison Box.
