Manifest - Populating Groups with Course Enrollment Data (and other SIS data)

This document describes the process for requesting course enrollment data-driven groups.

Course Enrollment Data & Manifest Groups

IAM can populate data-driven groups using course enrollment data from the Student Information System (SIS), as well as other data elements, such as student group code and certificate enrollments. This data is retrieved from SIS via the CAOS API and updated within Manifest on a regular basis. Due to the sensitive nature of the data involved, these integrations require approval from the data steward. The process for getting that approval is outlined below.

Requesting SIS Data Driven Groups

  1. Submit an IAM intake request, including the following information:
    1. Which department(s) you support.
    2. A detailed paragraph regarding your use-case for needing the data (e.g., information about what applications you're hoping to drive access to and which student populations would benefit)
    3. The subject and course catalogue codes you'd like released (e.g., FIN 300 and MKT 155).
Alternatively, if you need students associated with some other SIS data element — such as all the students enrolled in a given Certificate or all students under a certain student group code — please include as much detail about the population you're hoping to capture as possible.

  2. IAM will review your request. This review process may include scheduling a meeting with you to gather information about the request and use case. Once IAM completes their review, they will submit a request for approval by the data steward on your behalf.

  3. Once the request is approved, IAM will create the data-driven groups and will work with you to get them added as members to the Manifest group(s) that drive access to your services.
