X-Win32 at UW-Madison

This document explains the current state of X-Win32 and associated features at UW-Madison.
X- Win32 allows remote display of UNIX windows on Windows machines in a normal window alongside the other Windows applications

Eligibility

Facstaff are eligible for X-Win32 and FastX access if they are in a University-paid position

Students are not eligible for X-Win32 and FastX.

Facstaff access at UW-Madison

X-Win32 and FastX can be accessed directly through the Campus Software Library after a valid NetID login.

 

Student access at UW-Madison

Students are not eligible for X-Win32 and FastX.

 

What's included in X-Win32 for UW-Madison

UW-Madison is licensed for both X-Win32 and FastX for displaying Linux through browsers.

Licensing Models

UW-Madison has licensed individual and server installations for X-Win32 and FastX.
