Excluding Contacts from a Segment
If you don't have a segment set up yet, please visit Creating a New Segment before walking through this article on excluding contacts from a segment.
Scenario: You have a shared list in a segment to email, but you want to exclude some of these emails from the list that SHOULD NOT receive your email. Here is what you need to do.
Excluding Contacts via a shared list:

Create an Excel file of contacts that you would like to exclude. Upload these as you would do with any shared list. To review this please see, Uploading Contacts To Make a Shared List .

Add this list to your segment

Switch the criteria of the list you just uploaded to "exclude" by right clicking on the segment and selecting it from the drop down options.
Excluding a single email:

Click on the plus next to the number of contacts in your segment on the top left of the page.

Select "Individual Contacts"

Click the plus on the top left of the main window. This will open a pop up to search for the email you want to exclude. Type it in the search on the top right of the page, and select the email from the search results.

Click "Add Contacts" at the bottom right of the pop-up window to put the email in the segment.

Switch the criteria of the list you just uploaded to "exclude" by right clicking on the segment and selecting it from the drop down options.
