MacOS: Connecting to Shared Drive

This document provides instructions on how to connect to the new DoIT hosted shared drive for School of Education employees with MacOS Devices.

If you are not connected to the University's wired network, you will have to connect to WiscVPN(uwmadison.vpn.wisc.edu) in Global Protect to be able to access Shared Drive. To access Restricted Drive you will always have to be connected to WiscVPN.

  1. Open your Finder application: From the top utility bar, click on "Go" and select "Connect to Server".

  2. In the Connect to Server dialogue box, in the Server Address field, enter either "smb://education.drive.wisc.edu/SOE" or "smb://education-restricted.drive.wisc.edu/R-SOE", depending which file share you need to access.
  3. Click on the + (plus) icon to add the server name to your Favorite Servers.

  4. When prompted for your credentials, select "Registered User". Enter AD\YourNetID as your username, and your NetID password as the password.

  5. Click "Connect" to continue.

  6. Optional: In your Finder preferences, ensure that "connected servers" is selected to display on your desktop/sidebar for quick access.
