[How To] Connecting to Student Payments for Units

Instructions on how to connect to the network share for submitting student payments

Please note: If you are not connected to the campus wireless or wired network, you will need to Setup/Connect Campus VPN BEFORE doing the steps below. 

Mac Clients

  1. Make the Finder active by either click on your desktop or the Finder icon in the dock.

  2. Click Go in the menu and select Connect to Server.

  3. In the Connect to Server dialog box, enter: smb://files.cals.wisc.edu/cals-admin

    [Optional] If you click the [+] in the lower left corner, it will save it in your Favorite Servers below, so you won't have to type it each time you want to connect

  4. Click Connect.

  5. If prompted, enter your Campus NetID and password into the dialog box. Be sure to use the form AD\<CampusNetID>

  6. Click Connect.
  7. Navigate to groups --> Student Payments --> Submitted --> <Your Unit>

Windows Clients

  1. Right click This PC on the Desktop or on the left in File Explorer and select Map Network Drive

  2. Enter the following:   \\files.cals.wisc.edu\cals-admin\groups

  3. You can choose to select Reconnect at sign-in depending on your preference for that option.

  4. Click Finish

  5. If prompted, fill in your Campus NetID and password in the form <NetID>@wisc.edu

  6. Click OK

  7. Navigate to <DriveLetterYouSelected>: --> groups --> Student Payments --> Submitted --> <Your Unit>
