UDOIT - Known Issue - UDOIT Exposes Time Restricted Files After Editing Links

UDOIT can cause issues with time restrictions on course files.

Using UDOIT to change a link on a page will add something to ALL links on the page. We are seeing this cause issues where time restricted files are linked on the page that was edited. This code will make it so the time restrictions are ignored and students will be able to access the files at any time. 

Affects

This affects any courses that have used UDOIT to make any change to a link. 

The File Permissions that this overrides are those set in the Files area of Canvas.

Status

This issue is present as of January 30, 2026. The vendor has been notified and is working on a solution.

Workaround

If you need to update a link barrier identified by UDOIT, edit the Canvas page to make any required changes, rather than the editor inside of UDOIT.

Update

Canvas has acknowledged a bug related to this issue and is planning on having a fix in place around June 17th, 2026 (This was originally scheduled for March 15th).
