HR API

The HR API is a provides Human Resources data for the Universities of Wisconsin. Data is sourced from Workday and is updated every day.

Getting Access

Register your application to use the HR API, then submit a request using the appropriate form.
Access to the HR API is only granted to a Developer Portal "Team" (a group) rather than an individual account. Make sure to create a team before registering your application in the Developer Portal.

Credential Rotation Policy

The HR API is subject to the DoIT Enterprise Integration credential rotation policy.

API consumers are required to manually rotate their Consumer Key and Consumer Secret every 6 months.

Credentials older than 6 months may be identified during automated credential audits, and the owning team will be contacted to rotate affected credentials.

Service Level Objectives (SLO)

These are the targets for key metrics we will meet. If any of these fall below our targets they will be treated as high priority issues to resolve.

  • Response times - 99% of GET requests will return within 1 second.
  • Error rate - 99.99% of requests will respond with a non-5XX response code.
