Risks and Benefits: General

Risks and Benefits: General

The Education and Social/Behavioral Science IRB only review minimal risk research.  In minimal risk research, it is very rare that any direct benefits to participants can be proven.  Therefore, the ED/SBS IRB expect that the benefits section of the protocol application and consent documents will read "There are no direct benefits to participants in this study" (or similar text).  If Study Teams want to provide additional detail, preface with "However..."  Any benefits listed will likely be returned for the study team to make modifications. **Please note: compensation is not a benefit and should not be described in this section.
