Campus Network (Housing) - Using the MyResNet Tool
The MyResNet tool is an easy way to check what devices you have registered on the campus network (housing) and to submit a request to remove any devices you wish to unregister from the campus network.
Note: This documentation ONLY applies to those without Aruba Hospitality Access Points (HAPs).
The MyResNet tool can be found here: https://residents.housing.wisc.edu/resnet/tools/myresnet. It requires a user to log in with their NetID and Password.
Upon login, users will see a screen that will list each device that is registered to their NetID:
Finding More information about your device
To see more information about your device, click on the highlighted "Host Name" field (in the picture above, the host name is "n/a"). A new screen will appear with additional information about your device:
Removing a device from the Campus Network (Housing)
To remove a device from the network, check the "remove" box, and click on "delete registrations". A new window will pop up to confirm your selections:
Click "Submit" to finish the process. NOTE: This DOES NOT remove a registration instantaneously. This sends a request to ResNet, and the device should be unregistered within one business day.
Why Unregister?
Unregistering devices can be useful for the purpose of deleting accidental registrations, or if a user needs to register a device with no built-in internet browser (for example, a gaming device). In this case, the user should unregister their computer, and before re-registering, use option #3 to register their gaming console.
For more information on the registration process, please see How to Connect to Resnet.
