Database Support Policy
It is not the intent of the Web Hosting service to provide enterprise-level MySQL support. The intent is to provide MySQL databases in support of web applications running on the server (ex: custom PHP apps, WordPress, Drupal, etc.).
Available Databases
Oracle, and MS SQL, enterprise database hosting options are available from DoIT (a separate service fee applies)
- Oracle: https://it.wisc.edu/services/oracle-database-hosting/
- MSSQL: https://it.wisc.edu/services/mssql-database-hosting/
Web Hosting Oracle Connectivity:
- Linux: Web Hosting - Linux Oracle Connectivity - tnsnames.ora
- Windows: Oracle is not installed on our Windows platforms, and developers utilize Oracle’s Data Provider for .NET and specify connections within their applications.
MySQL: Is offered on our Linux platforms and managed directly by the Customer through the Plesk control panel. For instructions, see Web Hosting - Managing MySQL Databases.
Linux/Apache (LAMP) web hosting accounts are allocated MySQL databases at the following service levels:

| Gold/Platinum | 10 for test and 10 for production |
| Additional Blocks of Databases | +5 MySQL Databases for $10/month (5 for test, 5 for prod) |
