Guest UWNet Access
Connect to eduroam
Current UW-Madison students, employees, and campus affiliates should use the eduroam wireless network. You must have an active UW-Madison NetID to use eduroam.
See eduroam - Accessing and Logging in to eduroam for instructions to use eduroam.
For more information about eduroam and why it is the preferred Wi-Fi network on campus, please refer to eduroam - End User Benefits.
Connect to UWNet
- On your device, select the UWNet Wi-Fi network.
- If the registration does not pop up immediately, open your web browser and you should be automatically redirected to the UWNet registration page.
- If you are a guest on campus and have not created a guest account, see UWNet - Create a Guest Account for instructions.
- Enter your login credentials.
- Guests: Use your Account Username as the NetID, and your Guest Password as the password. You receive this login information when you create a guest account.
- UW-Madison affiliates: Enter your NetID and NetID password.
- Accept the Terms of Use.
- Click Log In.
Note: For campus affiliates, this method will register your device on UWNet for the remainder of the current semester, after which point you will need to renew your registration.
This method associates your computer's MAC address with a NetID for an entire semester. You should not allow another user to register their NetID on your personal device, or vice-versa. Doing so may lead to one of you losing access to NetID services due to actions performed by the other person.
Register a device without a browser
You must manually register devices that do not have browsers. See UWNet - Register a Device Without a Browser for instructions.
For a list of devices that are incompatible with UWNet, see UWNet - Device Incompatibility List.
Troubleshooting
If you are having issues connecting to UWNet, please refer to Wireless UWNet - Unable to Connect.
