InfoAccess - Getting Authorized for InfoAccess Data Warehouse

Provides information needed to get an InfoAccess account and authorization to use InfoAccess data views.

If you are interested in writing your own queries using data from the InfoAccess Data Warehouse or running queries that require data base authorization, follow the steps below based on where you are employed.

Before requesting authorization, review the InfoAccess Data View Documentation. If you need help deciding what data you need, please contact the appropriate data custodial office(s) or email The data custodian for each data resource is listed in the data documentation.

UW-Madison and UW System Employees with a NetID

UW-Madison, UW-System, UW-Colleges, and UW-Extension employees with a NetID should request data authorization using the InfoAcess Data Authorization (IDA) application.

IDA enables InfoAccess patrons to:

  1. List their current assignments
  2. Request access to new/additional data resources
  3. Check on the status of pending data requests
  4. Set/Reset their InfoAccess account password

IDA also dramatically improves the process for routing data requests to supervisory, school/college, and data custodial staff. Data access requests are now routed electronically, eliminating lost requests, and reducing the review/approval life-cycle to just a few days.

UW System Employees without a NetID

  1. Activate an InfoAccess Account

    UW System employees new to the InfoAccess Service will need to have an InfoAccess account created. Please complete the InfoAccess Account Activation form.

  2. Request Authorization to Data Views

    Please complete the paper version of the InfoAccess Data Authorization form, print and sign the form and route it for review/approval by your supervisor, division representative, and data custodian.
