Document Capture in ImageNow
There are multiple ways one can get documents into ImageNow. This KB explains capture from scanners, local/network file systems, and ImageNow Project Viewer.
Capture a document from scanner source
Before you can complete this procedure, you must have created a corresponding capture profile for the documents you want to capture. The following procedures walk you through capturing one or more scanner source documents for each mode (Single, Batch) where all other profile settings are default settings.
- Capture profile: Scanner source in Single mode
- Load the document you want to scan into the document feeder.
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click the Capture down arrow and then click to select the capture profile you want where Scanner is the source and your mode is Single.
- In ImageNow Viewer- Single Scan, verify image quality, make any changes you want using the options available to you and then perform one of the following actions:
- Click Save Scanned Image.
- Click Rescan Page, click the capture profile name, and then repeat scanning steps.
- Click Discard Scanned Image.
- Capture profile: Scanner source in Batch mode
- Load the documents you want to scan into the document feeder.
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click the Capture down arrow and then click to select the capture profile you want where Scanner is the source and your mode is Batch.
- Optional. If you specified Validate page count as a batch option when creating the capture profile, the Supply Group Information dialog box prompts you to select Prep User name, Prep Date, and Pages. Select or enter the values you want and then click OK.
- Optional. In your capture profile, if you selected the Show Batch Report check box, in the Batch report dialog box, the Local Batch ID, Pages scanned, and Pages discarded information appears. Click OK.
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click Batches, and then double-click the batch you just scanned to begin the quality assurance and document linking process.
Capture a document from file source
Before you can complete this procedure, you must have created a corresponding capture profile for the documents you want to capture. The following procedures walk you through capturing one or more File source documents for each mode (Single or Batch) where all other profile settings are default settings. Choose the option you want for the mode you are using.
- Capture Profile: File source in Single mode
- Open the appropriate record within your business application.
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click the Capture down arrow and then click to select the capture profile you want where File is the source and your mode is Single.
- In the Importing Disk to File Document window, click the files you want to import, and then click Open. CaptureNow imports the documents into ImageNow.
- In ImageNow Viewer- Single Scan, verify image quality, make any changes you want using the options available to you in ImageNow Viewer, and then perform one of the following actions:
- Click Save Scanned Image.
- Click Rescan Page, click the capture profile name, and then repeat capture steps.
- Click Discard Scanned Image.
- Capture Profile: File source in Batch mode
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click the Capture down arrow, and then click to select the capture profile you want where File is the source and your mode is Batch.
- In the File Capture - Batch window, click the files you want to import, and then click Open. CaptureNow imports the documents into ImageNow.
- On the ImageNow toolbar, click Batches, and then double-click the batch you just imported to begin the quality assurance and document linking process.
Capture a document from Project Viewer
You can use this procedure to capture a document from the ImageNow Project Viewer using a single mode capture profile. If document and project context mapping are enabled, ImageNow will import the document to the project mapped in your application plan and the project from which you are scanning.
- In the ImageNow Project Viewer, complete one of the following actions:
- Capture a document from scanner source
- Load the document you want to scan into the scanner bed.
- On the ImageNow Project Viewer toolbar, from the Capture menu, select the capture profile you want where Scanner is the source.
Note The Capture menu is only available if single mode profiles are available and you have the appropriate privileges. - In the Proposed Key dialog box, verify the document keys are accurate and then click Capture to continue. CaptureNow imports the documents into ImageNow.
- Capture a document from file source
- On the ImageNow Project Viewer toolbar, from the Capture menu, select the capture profile you want where File is the source.
Note The Capture menu is only available if single mode profiles are available and you have the appropriate privileges. - In the Importing Disk to File Document window, click the files you want to import, and then click Open. CaptureNow imports the documents into ImageNow.
- On the ImageNow Project Viewer toolbar, from the Capture menu, select the capture profile you want where File is the source.
- Capture a document from scanner source
- In the ImageNow Viewer - Single Scan dialog box, verify image quality, make any changes you wan t using the options available to you in the ImageNow Project Viewer, and then perform one of the following actions:
- To complete the capture, click Save Scanned Image.
- To rescan the document, click Rescan Page, click the capture profile name, and the repeat the capture steps.
- To cancel the capture, click Discard Scanned Image.
- ImageNow adds the document to the current project.
