Background

• Like all other CASIs, DoIT CASI established in January 2000

• Advises the CIO on matters concerning academic staff

• Yearly plan based on feedback from February ’05 survey of academic staff

• Increased voting membership from five (5) to six (6)

• Assembly Representatives (District 451 & 452)

• Ex-officio (Deputy CIO, HR Director)

• “Perceptual Thinking Patterns: The Mind at Work” (Vida Groman)

• Career Planning Framework (OHRD)

– Don Schutt (OHRD Director) presented the “Strength-based Approach to Career

Development”

– Well attended (54 academic/non-academic)

– Positive feedback: Average rating of 4.75 on 1-5 scale (n=28)

• “What Do Managers Think about Staff Development – A Panel Discussion”

– Three (3) DoIT managers and two (2) non-DoIT managers

– Well attended (~60 academic/non-academic)

– Positive feedback: Average ratingwas 4 on scale of 1-5 (n=25)
