Candidate Statement
I am currently a senior lecturer in the Law School, where I have taught and provided academic support in writing since 1978. I began representing District 274 in 1990, also serving ad hoc committees to create the Districting and Representation Committee (1996), to study of the future of academic staff at the University (1998), and to begin work on improving communications (2004). My experience as Chair of the Districting and Representation Committee gave me the opportunity to be part of a dedicated volunteer team and to learn about the common and diverse concerns of academic staff beyond my own part of the campus.
Serving as Chair of the Nominating Committee acquainted me with more individual academic staff members and left me even more impressed by the breadth and depth of their talent. I would be honored to serve now on ASEC and would be happy to be part of a dedicated team that addresses the issues currently facing the academic staff, the campus community, and the University.
