Announcements:
Al Benzschawel has resigned. His schedule is too dominated by Administrative Process Redesign (APR) Projects and others projects that Accounting Services is leading internally. He will contact Donna Silver.

Category A Maxima - Jim
Jim presented his final report. We passed the following motion unanimously 10/12 via email:
The CEBC recommends that ASEC work with campus and System administration to resolve the salary cap problem for Category A Academic Staff, as described in the CEBC report "Implications of Category A Salary Maximum for Academic Staff." Our recommended solutions in priority order are:
(1) removing the salary caps
(2) gradually and systematically increasing the salary maxima
(3) conducting a new market study on all Academic Staff titles
(4) conducting a market study on a stratified random sample of Academic Staff.
Jim’s perseverance and leadership on Category A Maxima was applauded.
Standing Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs Meeting - Dennis
The Standing Committee Chairs and Co-Chairs met this week to discuss issues of common concerns including working more closely with the CASI’s for communication on governance issues (gather feedback, climate issues, etc.)
Collective Bargaining Issue
ASEC is forming a committee to examine the Collective Bargaining Issue. Alec will represent this committee.
Distinguished Prefix Update – Miriam
The Chancellor’s September 30 letter responding to ASEC’s concerns regarding the increase in the faculty promotional base adjustment, also addressed the Distinguished Prefix issue. The Chancellor is working to convince the System Administration and the other chancellor’s to adopt the Assembly’s proposal of two years ago. Miriam spoke to Steve Lund and followed up with an email Oct. 12 asking him to bring the CEBC up to date.

ESR & FAQ – Beth
Beth discussed the draft ESR FAQ she and Kay had written. Miriam will check with Donna Silver regarding the process for updating the FAQ.
FAQ on Domestic Partnership Health Insurance Benefits - Beth
Beth will draft an FAQ. The QLaw Association sponsored a presentation by Howard Erlanger on the pitfalls and benefits to this legislation. Howard Sweet’s article on this topic is slated for the November issue of the Wisconsin Bar Association Journal.
