1. Category A Maxima Discussion – Everyone
The final Category A Maxima report was sent to ASEC Feb. 3.
Heather Daniels, chair of ASEC, joined us to discuss an idea for an alternative to Category A. We reviewed the Category A Maxima report’s recommendations to determine if an additional prefix in the career progression would address the issues raised in the report. It does not.
CEBC undertook this study because of the inherent inequity is having Category A Academic Staff members being the only unclassified university employees for whom a salary cap is imposed.
Any or all of the recommendations would address all the Academic Staff members impacted by the salary cap. Adding an additional prefix does not deal with the Academic Staff members who are not promotable within a title series. Our concern is that implementation of an additional prefix would encourage the inappropriate use of the Extraordinary Salary Range as a way to compensate for the salary cap.
Miriam will submit the committee’s response to Heather.
Heather invited the committee to attend the March 25, 1:30-3:30 p.m. ASEC meeting when Steve Lund, Interim Director of the Human Resources Office and Steve Stern, Associate Vice Chancellor for Faculty and Academic Staff, will discuss the Agility Agenda and their responses to the Category A Maxima report.
