Getting Connected

Requesting Access to Campus IT Systems

The UW-Madison community relies on access to a variety of IT systems to support its daily work. The page linked below consolidates information about the systems most frequently used and provides links to the appropriate access request forms.

Wireless UWNet

The UW-Madison campus wireless network service provides laptop users with fast and convenient access to email and Web-based services, including My UW-Madison. Students, faculty, and staff are never more than a five-minute walk from one of many access sites located from the Clinical Sciences Center to the west to Memorial Union to the east. All campus housing, except for University Apartments, has access to wireless UWNet.

Campus Network (Housing)

The Campus Network provides an ethernet network connection to students living in University residence halls. Campus Network (Housing) services are managed by DoIT.

WiscVPN is a way to remotely access some campus network resources while at home or traveling. Dynamic WiscVPN is available for anyone with a valid NetID. Static WiscVPN is limited to departmental use only.
