Oracle Identity Manager (OIM) 11g - Use UDDS Code to Grant Data Level Access in HRS
UDDS codes are used to determine the data level access of a given user in Oracle Identity Manager. This document will provide a brief overview of what the individual components of a UDDS code mean.
The acronym UDDS is an HRS term related to a unique alphanumeric code that means:
- U = Business Unit (e.g. campus)
- D = Division
- D = Department
- S = Sub-Department
Take the UDDS code A022040 for example:
- Business Unit = A [UW-Madison]
- Division = 02 [General Services]
- Department = 20 [Human Resources]
- Sub-Department = 40 [Employee Services]
A user will be able to view information for all employees within and below his or her access level. For example, a user with access to A02 will be able to view information for all users in the General Services Division, including all of its departments and sub-departments. A user with access to A022040 will only be able to view information for that specific sub-department.
Each campus has an alpha code identifier, which is the first character of the UDDS code. As an example, the UW-Madison campus code identifier is the letter "A". Each campus also has a five character abbreviation (e.g. UWMSN) which is used in the Oracle Identity Manager when requesting campus wide access. To request system wide access for someone, select the code "UWS".
