DoIT Shared Tools - GitLab - Login and Access
A shared instance of GitLab is available to UW Madison researchers, faculty, and staff. It can also be used for teaching/learning. Using git.doit.wisc.edu frees you from licensing, installing, and maintaining your own instance of GitLab and includes the ultimate tier features of GitLab.
git.doit.wisc.edu supports a wide variety of clients, provides maximum flexibility in configuration, and offers other repository-related features. Through delegated administration schools and divisions maintain their own groups and sub-groups.
Logging In
Step 1) Go to the DoIT GitLab login page: git.doit.wisc.edu
Step 2) Ignore the fields Username or email and Password.
Step 3) Under those fields is a large button labeled UW-Madison NetID, click that button.
Step 4) You will be redirected to the familiar Wisconsin Federation login page.
Step 5) Select your campus and click Go.
The image below has a red X over the Username or email and Password fields. The red arrow is pointing to the UW-Madison NetID button. The green arrow indicates that, clicking that button will lead to the Wisconsin Federation login page.

Service Window
The Git service is regularly patched and updated on Tuesday nights from 10 pm to 11:59 pm. User experiences may be affected and access may be unavailable/ difficult during these periods.
