Hiring of student hourlies
Faculty can hire a
student hourly using personal grant or flex money. This documents contains
basic information on student hourly positions, and a link to the College
student hourly page.
If you want to hire a
student hourly worker using your grant or flex money, please email Jacqueline Wild with
the following information:
- Student's full name and email address
- Student's birth date
- Dates of hire
- Hourly rate
- Fund/grant name

It is extremely
important to let the Payroll Rep know about the student hourly worker before the student
works. If they have not worked with the UW before, they will have to go through
the I-9 (U.S. employment eligibility) verification process before they are
allowed to work. Also if they are new, their paperwork needs to have time to be
processed at Employee Services.
The current maximum
amount you can pay a student hourly is $13.25/hour.
The academic year 2016
fringe benefit rate for student hourly workers is 2.4%.
