LabArchives: MS-Office (Windows only) Plug-in Missing

After installing the electronic lab notebook plug-in for Microsoft Word 2013 and 2016 the plug-in is not showing from the users menu.

Problem: After installing the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) plug-in for Microsoft Word 2013 and 2016 for Windows as Administrator while logged on as the user, the menu options are not available to the user. If the user does not have Administrative rights to the system the ELN plug-in will not install properly. The ELN plug-in will allow an administrator to use the option "run as administrator" while logged on as the user, however this will not successfully install the plug-in.

Resolution: Logoff the computer as User and logon as a Administrator, add the User to the Administrator Group, logoff as Administrator and logon as the User, re-install the plug-in. After successful install revert user rights. Other observations, it appears the plug-in is profile based, this may require multiple installs on a shared computer. These observations have been shared with technical support at ELN.

This information is intended for users with knowledge of systems administration access. Contact your department for technical support.
