WiscWeb - WordPress UW Theme - Updating the Site Title, Tagline, and FavIcon

This document will walk you through updating your site title, tagline, and favicon. Please note that only Administrators on the site will be able to make these changes. Editors, Contributors, and Subscribers will not see all of these options.


You must be an Administrator on the site in order to update the site title, tagline, and site icon.


  1. Click on Appearance.
  2. Click on Customize.
  3. Click on Site Identity.
  4. Enter a Site Title. This is the larger text that appears in red on your site.
  5. Enter a Tagline. This is the smaller text that appears beneath the Site Title.
  6. For Site Icon, you may choose an icon that you would like to appear in browser tabs. FavIcons should be either 16x16 pixels or 32x32 pixels in dimension.

  • If you are not seeing the options to update certain site identity settings, you may not have an Administrator role on the site. Please double-check your role by navigating to the Users link in the Dashboard. If you are not an Administrator, you will not be able to update the site title, tagline, or site icon.
