Kaltura - Configuration snapshot function (for admins only)
NOTE: This document is expressly intended for campus Kaltura Administrators.
This document describes a feature that allows Kaltura administrators the ability to create and restore backups of the configuration management settings for MediaSpace (KMS) and Application Framework (KAF) instances.
Kaltura Administrators can create and restore snapshots of the configuration settings for their campus MediaSpace (KMS) and Application Framework (KAF) instances using a simple feature. This would be helpful to correct situations whereby an inadvertent or improper change was made, which cannot be undone easily.
To begin, login into your campus KMS/KAF instance using your administrative credentials. You will be presented with the Configuration Management interface, as shown below in a cropped image, and the option to save or restore a backup.
How to save a backup/snapshot:
1. Select the "Save Backup" option and you will be presented with the following pop-up message.
2. Select the "Yes, Save" option. The following screen represents the response that you will see, however, the date will be different. This date represents the last time that a change was made to the settings (not the date when a backup was created).
How to restore a backup/snapshot:
1. Select the "Restore Last Saved Configuration" option and you will be presented with the following pop-up message. This will display the date and time when the existing backup was created.
2. Select the "Yes, Restore" option to proceed. Please note that it is not possible to undo or interrupt the process when initiated.
The settings should revert to the previously saved backup.
If an attempt is made to restore a backup when no changes were made to the settings, the following message will be presented acknowledging that the settings are identical, therefore no settings need restoring.
