Memorial Library Room 362 - Instructions & Troubleshooting

This KB provides basic connection information and basic troubleshooting steps for the technology in Memorial Library Room 362.

General

Ceiling light switches, including a dimmer switch for recessed lighting, are located by the door.

An Extron wall panel near the podium is used to control the ceiling-mounted projector and its input sources (i.e., PC, laptop, and wireless) along with in-ceiling speaker volume.

You should never have to use the remote control for the ceiling-mounted projector; if the projector isn't working, please reach out to the Library Technology Group (LTG) Help Desk.

A conference phone system in the room can be used for voice-only calls.  Its number is (608) 262-2666.


Instructions

Project Using the Podium Desktop Computer

The podium desktop computer is a Tier 1.5 machine, so no login credentials are required to use it.

  1. Move the mouse or press an arrow key on the keyboard to wake the display if it's off.
  2. On the Extron wall panel, press the following buttons:
    • ON
      • This turns on the ceiling-mounted projector.
    • PC
      • This tells the projector to project the content displayed on the podium desktop computer.
      • You might need to wait a minute for the projector to warm up before anything is displayed.

Project Using a Laptop (Wired)

  1. Plug the USB-C cable on one of the conference tables into a USB-C port on your laptop.
  2. On the Extron wall panel, press the following buttons:
    1. ON
      • This turns on the ceiling-mounted projector.
    2. LAPTOP
      • This tells the projector to project the content displayed on your laptop computer.
      • You might need to wait a minute for the projector to warm up before anything is displayed.

Project Using a Smartphone / Tablet / Laptop (Wireless)

  1. On the Extron wall panel, press the following buttons:
    1. ON
      • This turns on the ceiling-mounted projector.
    2. WIRELESS
      • This tells the projector to project the content shared wirelessly via your laptop / smartphone / tablet.
      • You might need to wait a minute for the projector to warm up before anything is displayed.
  2. Follow the projected instructions to connect via the Mersive Solstice pod in the room, which will require an application be downloaded to your laptop / smartphone / tablet.

When You Are Done

  1. On the Extron wall panel, press the following button
    1. OFF
      • This turns off the ceiling-mounted projector.
  2. If you had been using the podium desktop computer, please close any open applications; you do not need to sign out / restart / shut down the podium desktop computer.

The podium desktop computer's display will enter power saving mode after a brief period of time; you to not need to power off the display.


Troubleshooting

No Audio from Podium Desktop Computer

  1. Press the "PC" button a second time.
  2. Verify all cables from the podium desktop computer are securely connected.
  3. Verify Extron wall panel volume dial is not off / set too low.

Reset the Entire System

  1. Cut power to the ceiling-mounted projector via the light switch on the wall behind the podium.
    • Flip the Projector On / Off switch to "Off."
  2. Disconnect the power strip in the podium that is connected to the Extron wall panel and its related hardware.
  3. Reconnect the power strip in the podium that is connected to the Extron wall panel and its related hardware.
  4. Restore power to the ceiling-mounted projector via the light switch on the wall behind the podium.
    • Flip the Projector On / Off switch to "On."
