Learn@UW/D2L - List of Students in Dropbox Folders Includes Users Not Enrolled in Course
If the list of students appearing in dropbox folders in your course includes users who are not enrolled in your course, these 'stray' users are administrators who have the permission to see and submit files for the Dropbox tool.

For Site Administrators Only
If administrators appear along with students in the list of users in dropbox folders, the permission to "See and submit files to Dropbox" has been set for administrator role(s).
The permission to "See and submit files to Dropbox" in Security and Permissions should NOT be set for any administrator roles.
For administrators, the permission to "See and manage Dropbox" in Security and Permissions SHOULD be set.
Note that users will be able to "see" the dropbox folders if just one of these permissions is set.
