Procedure for Taking Leave - AAE Staff

Procedure for taking leave for AAE staff.
  • For leave that is a few days or more, please email Terri Wipperfurth ahead of time to inform her.

  • Send an email out to taylorhall-staff@ with the dates you will be gone.
    • Certain positions may want to use taylorhall@ (residents of Taylor Hall) or aae-all@ (all AAE-affiliated staff, grad students, faculty and emeriti), depending on length of leave.

  • Put an Out-Of-Office message (also known as Automatic Replies) on your UW email account (Office 365).   See [Link for document 52443 is unavailable at this time]

  • Enter your leave onto the AAE Administrative Staff Office 365 Group.   This can be done via Outlook on the Web, but is easier using Outlook 365:

    1. In Outlook, click on Calendars in the left folder pane

    2. Scroll down all the way in the left pane and find AAE Administrative Staff under All Group Calendars.  Check the box next to it.

    3. Click on the tab in the calendars to select the AAE Administrative Staff calendar.   Then select New Appointment from the toolbar.

    4. For the title, put <YOURNAME> Vacation
      • For multiple days, be sure to check All Day
      • In the Show As dropdown, be sure it's set to Busy or Out of Office
      • Click Save & Close

        New event

    5. If you wish, you can leave the calendar on, and have it overlay your personal calendar by click on the Overlay arrow
