WPM CASI Election Statements
Lisa Bultman, Business Sponsorship Manager, PBS Wisconsin
My name is Lisa Bultman and I have been working for PBS Wisconsin for the past two years. In my role, I get to work across many departments throughout WPM, and I feel it has given me a well-rounded perspective on the needs of our organization as we transition into UW-Madison. I want to represent the interest of my colleagues, utilizing my organizational skills and general love of note taking to serve as a resource, helping to keep WPM updated about and involved in policies and procedures that will affect our staff.
Jeff Durkee, Business Sponsorship Manager, Wisconsin Public Radio
My name is Jeff Durkee, I just started my 15th year at Wisconsin Public Radio, I work in the development department, managing the Madison/South Central area Business Sponsorship team. I came to WPR out of a sense of purpose and to find a place where I could use my powers for good. I would like to represent WPM on the Committee on Academic Staff Issues. I have previously served on the Academic Staff Council and really enjoyed that experience, meeting and learning from a diverse group of colleagues across multiple campuses. I feel my experience would be a resource in assisting to determine policies and procedures that can impact staff and to be a voice for our Wisconsin Public Media unit.
Kerman Eckes, Television Specialist, PBS Wisconsin
I began working for PBS Wisconsin as a student in 1982, and then as a full-time employee in 1985. In that time, we've gone through many changes, but few have been as wide-ranging as WPM's move to UW-Madison. In WPM's CASI, I see a fantastic opportunity for us to make an impact on our working world by making our voices heard on issues that directly affect us all.
I can bring to this group a deep institutional understanding of WPM, an openness to change, and a commitment to representing the variety of voices and views we share, and would be honored to serve on the first WPM CASI.
Hope Kirwan, WPR Reporter, Wisconsin Public Radio
My name is Hope Kirwan and I’m a WPR reporter based in La Crosse. I want to serve on the new WPM CASI to advocate for the needs of staff located outside of Madison. I also hope to represent the interests of WPM employees who are early in their careers. I believe I can help our organization create an inclusive and engaging work environment for everyone.
Vicki Pierce, Graphic Designer, PBS Wisconsin
Hi, my name is Vicki Pierce and I am a graphic designer with PBS Wisconsin. I would like to serve on WPM’s CASI to lend a hand in shaping this new entity. I was a member of the academic staff council for UW-Extension, so I will have some knowledge of shared governance to bring to the table.
Heather Reese, Video Promotions Manager, PBS Wisconsin
I oversee the stations on air video promotions. I have been here 1 and a half years. I am interested in running for the Committee on Academic Staff Issues to represent the PBS Wisconsin side of WPM. I want to represent my colleagues options and bring forward ideas and suggestions of ways to help the organization move forward in culture, work environment, collaboration and what positive changes we can bring to WPM. In addition, I am very interested in mentoring programs and working toward finding different ideas to develop this.
Andy Soth, Senior Broadcast Specialist, PBS Wisconsin
I have been an academic staff member for 28 years and an ASPRO member for nearly as long. I am a producer in PBS Wisconsin’s Local Series Unit.
I think now is a great time for involvement with shared governance through CASI as WPM becomes a part of UW Madison. Over the years, I’ve gained an appreciation for how large institutions function, or don’t function so well and am excited to grow my understanding of how academic staff (all of us) play a role in the University’s governance and direction.
While I have not previously served in any academic staff organization, I’m experienced with board and committee work through involvement with my church that includes policy setting and personnel matters.
