Microsoft 365 - Licensing Office using NetID

How to license the Microsoft Office suite by signing in with a UW NetID.
These steps only apply to Microsoft 365 (previously called Office 365) for those eligible for licensing through UW. Office 2019 and 2021 are still licensed using a traditional licensing method. To check your version of Office, follow these steps from Microsoft.
  1. Open any Office application, such as Word or Excel.
  2. You may be prompted to "Sign in to set up Office." If so, click Sign in. If not, click Sign in near the top right of the window.
  3. Enter your UW email address and click Next.
  4. When the NetID login page loads, sign in with your UW NetID credentials. Authorize with MFA if needed.
  5. You may see several more popups. Click Next or Continue to proceed past them.

To confirm that you have signed in, look for your name near the top right of the window:
