Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Refresher Instructions

All personnel conducting non-observational drug, device, biologic and/or radiation research that is approved by a UW Madison IRB must have current GCP training. Following initial completion, personnel must complete a refresher course every three years.

Personnel will be notified via email when their training is expiring and refresher training is required. Expiration dates can be verified by using the Research Certification Lookup.

To complete your GCP refresher training complete the following steps:
  1. Log in to your CITI account via the UW CITI Portal using your NetID and password.

  2. Make sure to access the course labeled "Good Clinical Practice". The course will not be labeled refresher. After clicking on the course link, the course page should display that it is the refresher stage of the course.

  3. If the GCP course is missing from your Main Menu page, click on the "Add a Course or Update Learner Groups" link and ensure the "Good Clinical Practice" box under question 3 is clicked.

If you experience any difficulty, please contact the Office of Research Compliance at or 608-262-1703. Support is provided Monday - Friday during normal business hours.
