Starting on October 18, 2023, you will receive email alerts when AWS Security Hub finds a security concern in your AWS account.

AWS Security Hub refers to these security concerns as “findings.” The emails will come from “AWS Notifications <no-reply@sns.amazonaws.com>“. Please review these alerts and remediate the finding in a timely manner and reach out to the Cloud Team if you need assistance. See the example email below.

You will only receive alerts for new security findings

Any existing Security Hub findings are viewable in AWS Security Hub. We recommend checking the AWS Security Hub dashboard for any existing alerts and remediating those findings.

Alongside this change, we wish to emphasize the importance of regularly reviewing your security alerts in the AWS Security Hub and the AWS Guard Duty Consoles.

Regular review will help ensure you are aware of any potential security risks, allowing for quicker detection and resolution of issues. Review best practices for AWS Security Hub alerting in this KB article https://kb.wisc.edu/public-cloud/129990 .

If you believe an alert has resulted in a security incident, please also reach out to the CSOC. Reporting an incident to the Office of Cybersecurity - UW–Madison Information Technology.

If you have any questions or need additional information regarding this change, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at cloud-services@cio.wisc.edu or attend our weekly office hours https://kb.wisc.edu/public-cloud/page.php?id=101516. We are here to help ensure a smooth transition and to address any concerns you might have.
