Student Council hears from Facilities Planning & Management leadership, discusses Code of Conduct and considers proposed legislation
MADISON, Wis. — Student Council met last Wednesday evening to hear from Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Planning & Management Cindy Torstveit, to discuss a proposed Code of Conduct and to consider legislation pertaining to constituent services and outreach.
The presentation from Torstveit included an overview of the organization, which encompasses various departments ranging from transportation to sustainability and more. Ongoing campus projects were also discussed, including the Humanities building and efforts toward a new residence hall, and representatives shared feedback and questions.
After a brief recess, representatives then returned to the proposed Code of Conduct. After lengthy debate, a motion was made and seconded to continue discussion of the code at the next Student Council meeting.
Following that, SSFC Vice Chair Lander Levers presented legislation 33-0930-02 titled “Creation of the Constituent Services Board,” which would establish a committee responsible for tracking student concerns brought to the student government and would assist with various outreach projects. Voting was postponed until the next Student Council meeting in order to allow for more review.
The meeting also included Internal Affairs appointments to the Grant Allocation Committee (GAC) and Student Services Finance Committee (SSFC) and Shared Governance appointments. It concluded with reports from committees and other ASM leadership positions. Meeting materials are available here.
The next Student Council meeting will be held Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the Hearing Room of the Student Activity Center.
