Accessibility and usability barriers

The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist and to help people who support them. This is not a comprehensive list of barriers. Our team evaluates common user flows, looking for patterns of barriers. We do not evaluate the entire application.

Figure 1 - Keyboard navigation and screen reader barrier

A portion of the Zoom interface which includes a three dot menu. Refer to caption for more details.

Figure 1 caption: The three dots, also called a contextual menu, can be opened with a keyboard, but none of the contents can be selected either with the screen reader used for test or keyboard-only navigation.

Figure 2 - Keyboard focus lost

The contextual or three-dot menu in the Zoom interface with a keyboard focus indication. Refer to caption for more details.

Figure 2 caption: After the contextual menu is selected, if the user continues to hit tab the focus indicator goes missing.

Figure 3 - Keyboard focus error: cut-off focus

Keyboard focus around a checkbox that is partially cut off. Refer to caption for details.

Figure 3 caption: Keyboard focus is around three sides of the checkbox, but is missing the side.

Figures 4.1 and 4.2 - Contrast barrier in keyboard focus

Keyboard focus around text. Refer to caption for details.

Blue keyboard focus around a blue button. Refer to caption for details.

Figures 4.1 and 4.2 captions: The keyboard focus in 4.1 is around “All My zoom Meetings/Recordings”. The focus in 4.2 is around “Schedule a New Meeting” but the focus isn’t visible because of poor color contrast.

Figure 5 - Magnification barrier

The Zoom interface magnified at 150%. Refer to caption for details.

Figure 5 Caption: By 150% magnification, items are cut off and horizontal scrolling is required. WCAG 2.1 AA standards require up to 400% magnification.

Figure 6 - Change of context

Linked text that says "get training." Refer to caption for details.

Figure 6 caption: There is no visual or audio indication that the link will take you to a new window. WCAG standards state you should not automatically cause a change of context unless the user has been advised of the behavior before using the component.
